Pasteurized/sterilized autoclaved or irradiated feed; acidified drinking water; steam sterilized bedding; microisolator caging; mouse transfer by disinfected forceps; strict barrier sanitation of caging equipment through tunnel washers; restricted entry

Production and Repository Facilities

sterilization or disinfection of all supplies and equipment for all Production and Repository barriers

Standard barrier: static or individually ventilated caging; Pasteurized or sterilized feed; change into sterilized clothing and shoes; gloves, mask, cap; restricted entry

High barrier: sterilized individually ventilated caging; sterilized drinking water; sterilized feed; air or wet shower; change into sterilized clean room clothing and shoes; gloves, mask, cap

Maximum barrier: sterilized individually ventilated caging; sterilized feed and drinking water; air or wet shower; change into sterilized clean room scrubs, smock and shoes; gloves, air hat or mask, cap and face shield

Research Animal Facility (RAF)

Low barrier: static or individually ventilated caging; gown; gloves

Intermediate barrier: static or individually ventilated caging; sterilization or disinfection of all supplies and equipment; gown, gloves, mask, cap, and sterilized shoes/shoe covers

Elevated barrier: sterilized individually ventilated caging; steam sterilized or irradiated feed; sterilized drinking water; sterilization or disinfection of all supplies and equipment; change into scrubs, sterilized gown, gloves, mask, cap, and sterilized shoes/shoe covers; air shower
