Querying for Cre-lox and FLP-FRT Strains Improved
JAX® NOTES Issue 503, Fall 2006
To facilitate searching for Cre-lox and FLP-FRT strains using the Quick Query or the Advanced Search Query Forms of the JAX® Mice Database, the Research Area pull-down menus have been redesigned.
To navigate from the Jackson Laboratory home page to the JAX® Mice Database-Quick Query Form, click on "Mouse Strain Information" under the heading "JAX® MICE & SERVICES" (on the left of your screen), then on "Mouse Strain Information" (on the right in the new window), then on "Use the JAX® Mice Database" under the heading "Three Ways to Search for JAX® Mice" (in the bottom middle of the new window). Alternatively, simply use the direct link to the JAX® Mice Database-Quick Query Form.
Once you are at the Quick Query Form, you'll notice that the top two Research Area search levels ("Research Tools" and "Cre-lox-System") are still there. However, a third level now allows you to search the various types of Cre expressing and conditional knockout (loxP-flanked sequences) strains. The search hierarchy is now as follows:
1. Research Tools
2. Cre-lox-System
3. Cre-Recombinase Expression
3. Cre-Recombinase Expression: Germline/ Embryonic Expression
3. Cre-Recombinase Expression: Inducible
3. loxP-flanked Sequences
3. loxP-flanked Sequences: Test/Reporter
A similar search hierarchy has been implemented for strains using the FLP-FRT System:
1. Research Tools
2. FLP-FRT System
3. FLP Recombinase Expression
3. FLT-Flanked Sequences: Test/Reporter
