Mouse, Human and Rat Transcript and Protein Sequences Available from MGI
JAX® NOTES Issue 503, Fall 2006
Mouse Genome Informatics (MGI) has made several improvements to its Mammalian Orthology Query Results reports. First, in addition to those of the mouse, you can now download representative human and rat transcript and protein sequences in FASTA format, or you can forward them to MouseBLAST. Second, the reports now include links to the following:
- any relevant MGI Protein Information Resource Superfamilies (PIRSF);
- MGI gene families;
- VISTA on UCSC browser (whole genome alignments);
- Homologene at NCBI (automated detection of homologs among the annotated genes of completely sequenced eukaryotic genomes); and
- MGI Mouse-Human-Rat Comparative GO Graphs (curated GO classifications for mouse, human, and rat orthologs annotated from the biomedical literature).
The reports also link to comparative maps that show regions within 2 cM of orthologous markers in the mouse and other selected species.
You can access the Mammalian Orthology reports from Gene Detail pages and from search results from the Mammalian Orthology Query Form. As an example, see the following Web page.
