MGI Gene Expression Database (GXD) updated
JAX® NOTES Issue 511, Fall 2008
Expression data from the Gene Expression Database (GXD) project is now seamlessly integrated into the Mouse Genome Informatics website (MGI). The Expression section on MGI gene detail pages now contains links to gene expression profile pages at the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), the microarray and high-throughput data repository at the National Council of Biological Investigators (NCBI), and to the Gene Expression Nervous System Atlas Project (GENSAT).
On Gene Expression Data Summary pages, data details that display images such as RNA in situ or Western blot images are now marked with a camera icon. Some of the expression images annotated by GXD are now 3-D spatially mapped into EMAGE, the Edinburgh Mouse Atlas and Gene Expression Database, and GXD's image detail pages include links to corresponding entries at EMAGE. This makes it easier to compare GXD's text-based and EMAGE's graphical annotation of the same expression data.
The Gene Expression Data and Gene Expression Data Expanded Query forms now search detailed expression data and expression literature content records simultaneously whenever query parameters apply to both types of data. Previously, expression literature content could only be searched separately.
