Need a genetically modified mouse model that is not in our collection? Our new JAX® Microinjection Service can help you construct it. By constructing models directly on a C57BL/6J background, we eliminate time-consuming backcrosses — and save you money in the process. JAX technical experts have produced thousands of transgenic and targeted mutation mice for our own scientists. Now, you can take advantage of that same expertise. Why rely on newcomers to the field when you can work with scientists backed up by nearly 80 years of pioneering mouse genetics "know-how"? In summary, here's what we're offering:
Transgenic DNA being delivered by micropipette into the pronucleus of a fertilized single-cell embryo. The injected embryo is then transferred to the oviduct of a pseudopregnant female.
DNA Microinjection Service
We prepare your DNA for pronuclear injection according to well-established and proven protocols and microinject it into at least 250 C57BL/6J (000664) embryos. In most cases, 50-100 offspring are produced and 5-10% of these them prove to be germline founders. Overall, 95% of our DNA microinjection projects yield transgenic founder mice. All are of SPF health status and shipped to you after weaning.
ES Cell Microinjection Service
We microinject your gene-targeted ES cells from either strain 129 or C57BL/6J into 100 C57BL/6J or 100 B6(Cg)-Tyrc-2J/J (000058) embryos. Any offspring produced are scored for coat-color chimerism. In most cases, more than 20 offspring are produced, and approximately 90% of our projects yield chimeric mice. All chimeric mice produced are of SPF health status and shipped to you.
