B6;129P2-Pvalbtm1(cre)Arbr/J 008069
This strain expresses Cre recombinase from the endogenous parvalbumin (Pvalb) locus. When crossed with a strain containing loxP site flanked sequence of interest, offspring are produced in which Cre-mediated recombination results in tissue-specific deletion of the target. This strain may be used to research neuronal differentiation.
B6.Cg-Gt(ROSA)26Sortm1(rtTA*M2)Jae/J 006965
This targeted mutant widely expresses an optimized form of reverse tetracycline-controlled transactivator (rtTA-M2) protein. It may be used in doxycycline-inducible studies involving rtTA/tet-O (tet-on/TRE) models.
B6.Cg-Tg(Pax8-rtTA2S*M2)1Koes/J 007176
This Pax8-rtTA strain is a Tet-On tool for inducing the expression of genes in renal tubular epithelial cells. Along with STOCK Tsc1tm1Djk/J (005680), it may be used to research renal disorders, such as fibrosis or polycystic kidney disease, renal cancer, and tuberous sclerosis.
B6.129(Cg)-Gt(ROSA)26Sortm4(ACTB-tdTomato,-EGFP)Luo/J 007676
This mT/mG strain may be used as a Cre reporter strain. It expresses red fluorescence before and green fluorescence after Cre-mediated recombination in many cell and tissue types.
B6.Cg-Tg(Npy-MAPT/GFP*)1Rck/J 008321
This strain expresses a tau (MAPT)-sapphire green fluorescent protein (GFP) under the transcriptional control of the mouse neuropeptide Y (Npy) promoter. Fluorescence is observed in distinct neuronal populations of the hypothalamic arcuate nucleus. This strain has been used to study the role of neuropeptide Y and leptin in food intake. Hemizygotes are viable, fertile, and do not display any gross physical or behavioral abnormalities.
B6;129P2-Mecp2tm1Bird/J 006847
This strain has an X-linked floxed mutation of the methyl CpG binding protein 2 gene. It may be used to research Rett syndrome.
129S.FVB-Tg(Amh-cre)8815Reb/J 007915
This Amh-cre transgenic strain expresses Cre recombinase directed by the testis Sertoli cell-specific promoter elements of the anti-Mullerian hormone (Amh) gene. When Amh-cre transgenic males are bred with female mice containing a loxP-flanked sequence of interest, offspring are produced in which Cre-mediated recombination deletes the flanked sequence in testis Sertoli cells. This strain may be used to generate conditional Sertoli cell knockouts, the males of which can be used for studying embryonic sexual differentiation and the regulation of spermatogenesis.
STOCK Mir17-92tm1.1Tyj/J 008458
In this targeted mutant, the microRNA17-92 (miR-17~92) cluster, which is overexpressed in human cancers, is flanked by loxP sites. Homozygotes for the "floxed" allele are viable, fertile, normal sized, and look and behave normally. When used in conjunction with a Cre recombinase-expressing strain, this strain can be used to generate tissue-specific mutants of the floxed allele.
STOCK Foxa2tm2.1(cre/Esr1)Moon/J 008464
This strain expresses the tamoxifen-inducible cre/Esr1 from the forkhead box A2 (Foxa2) locus. When crossed with a strain containing a loxP-flanked sequence of interest, it produces offspring that are useful for generating tamoxifen-induced, Cre-mediated targeted deletions in the developing endoderm, notochord, and floorplate.
C57BL/6J-Tg(Nkx2-1-cre)2Sand/J 008661
This Nkx2.1Cre (or BAC-Nkx2.1-Cre) transgenic expresses cre under the control of the Nkx2.1 promoter/enhancer regions. It may be used to generate conditional mutants for studying gain/loss of function or fate mapping in subgroups of brain progenitor cells (interneurons in telencephalon and hypothalamus cells), and in developing lung, thyroid, and pituitary tissues.
STOCK Epas1tm1Mcs/J 008407
This strain carries a (floxed) Epas1 (endothelial PAS domain protein 1) allele, Epas12lox. It may be used to generate conditional mutants for studies related to erythropoiesis.
B6.129(Cg)-Slc6a4tm1Kpl/J 008355
This strain harbors a mutant solute carrier family 6 (neurotransmitter transporter, serotonin), member 4 (Slc6a4) allele. It may be used to research the role of serotonin and serotonin transporter in behavior and learning, social anxiety, neuropsychiatric and neurological disorders (such as autism), pharmacological actions of therapeutic agents or drugs of abuse, inflammatory bowel disease, obesity and type 2 diabetes, and other molecular consequences of Slc6a4 inactivation.
B6;129P-Tg(Neurog1-cre/ESR1)1Good/J 008529
When this Ngn1-CreERT2 transgenic is bred with a strain containing a loxP-flanked sequence of interest, offspring are produced in which tamoxifen-inducible, Cre-mediated recombination deletes the flanked sequences in Neurog1 expressing cells, such as neurons in the cortex, hippocampus, thalamus, hypothalamus, and the cochlear-vestibular ganglion. The strain may be used to research neuron development and lineage mapping of Neurog1 expressing cells.
