JAX® NOTES Issue 514, Summer 2009

July 31, 2009, College of the Atlantic, Gates Auditorium, Bar Harbor, Maine

At a one-day symposium intended for general audiences, some of the world's leading scientists, including Nobel Laureates Richard Axel and Mario Capecchi, and former National Institutes of Health Director Elias Zerhouni, will discuss the future of genetics research and medicine as they relate to cancer, neurogenetics, stem cells, public policy, and individualized medicine. A panel discussion will be moderated by National Public Radio science correspondent Joe Palca. A reception, dinner, and lecture by MIT genome researcher Eric Lander at the Bar Harbor Club will culminate the symposium. The symposium will be held on the last day of the 50th Annual Short Course on Medical and Experimental Mammalian Genetics. It is co-sponsored by The Jackson Laboratory and The Johns Hopkins University.
