JAX West Expansion
JAX® NOTES Issue 491, Fall 2003
The Jackson Laboratory continues to expand JAX West mouse production colonies. JAX West will supply greater quantities and a greater variety of JAX® Mice strains beginning with C57BL/6J in late September and continuing with eight additional colony expansions of inbred, hybrid, and GEMM® strains through December 2003. These expansions will benefit our California, Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia customers by offering more cost effective ground transportation, shorter transit time, and improved availability for the
following strains:

In June 2003, The Jackson Laboratory added additional delivery days and moved back the order placement deadline for orders shipped from JAX West to the San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego areas. This change supports our continued expansion and improvement of ground transportation services and will immediately benefit customers by enabling "last minute" orders for mice available from JAX West.
Animal rooms in JAX West are an extension of the rooms in Bar Harbor and receive breeders monthly from Bar Harbor foundation stocks. Our JAX West colonies are consistent in genetic background to their counterparts in Bar Harbor, and their health status meets The Jackson Laboratory's Gold Standard, equivalent to our highest health status rooms in Bar Harbor.
