Information needed for JAX® Mice orders

To expedite order processing, please provide the following information when placing orders:

  • Customer account number
  • Institution name
  • Complete billing address
  • Complete shipping address
  • Name of researcher using JAX® Mice 
  • Contact information (email address or telephone number) for researcher using JAX® Mice
  • Order type (one-time shipment or standing order with multiple shipping dates)
  • Purchase order number (and release number if applicable)
  • Strain information, including stock number, full strain name, genotype, gender, age, and quantity desired, preferred dates to receive orders
  • Any flexibility you may have for receiving mixed ages, mixed genders, partial shipments or alternative dates for receiving mice
  • Requirements related to shipment from various animal facilities at The Jackson Laboratory

Expediting orders for strains with limited availability

Our most popular JAX® Mice strains are readily available for shipment. However, some of our specialty strains may have limited immediate availability, depending on current demand for the strain. We encourage you to contact our Customer Service group to inquire about your needs for any strain. We will work with you to develop the best solutions to provide you with the quantities of mice you need with any required age or other specifications.

If you need mice immediately, please indicate any flexibility you may have related to the mice shipped and the receipt dates. Mice from small colonies are shipped most quickly if ordered with the following flexibility:

  • Age range flexibility: Orders allowing for flexibility to receive a mix of ages or all of one age, but within an age range (e.g., five to eight weeks).
  • Gender flexibility: Orders with flexibility to receive either gender, a mix of genders, or whatever genders are available for most immediate shipment.
  • Delivery date flexibility: Orders allowing for partial shipments on multiple dates (i.e., sending multiple shipments of smaller quantities of mice rather than one large quantity within one shipment).
