Licenses for mice with p53 targeted mutation
(i.e., p53-minus mice)

Mice subject to U.S. patent no. 5,569,824 and corresponding patents assigned to Baylor College of Medicine and controlled by Taconic Farms are identified as “p53-minus mice” in the JAX® Mice Price List, Catalog and web pages.

The Jackson Laboratory will ship p53-minus mice when ordered under the following notice of restrictions:

p53-minus mice are shipped to the recipient with no warranties, express or implied, and The Jackson Laboratory, M.I.T., Whitehead Institute, and Taconic Farms expressly disclaim any warranty or merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or noninfringement. Recipient shall use the mice in compliance with all applicable laws.

Academic Recipients:

Use p53-minus mice for commercial purposes, resale or transfer of the mice and biological materials obtained from them to any third parties outside the recipient’s institution is prohibited without express permission from Taconic Farms. Academic recipients who wish to breed the mice for scientific purposes must notify Taconic, in writing, that they will breed p53-minus mice for their own research purposes only and that they will comply with all other terms of this license. The rights to breed will be granted by Taconic after they receive this notification.

For-Profit Commercial Recipients:

Use of these mice by for-profit commercial recipients requires a separate patent license from Taconic Farms and payment of a separate license fee.
