Research tools
The Jackson Laboratory offers a variety of mouse strains that carry transgenes whose expression is inducible or conditional. These strains may be used as tools to manipulate gene expression in a controlled manner. Other strains classified as research tools express proteins which may be used as markers to visibly distinguish individual cells and tissues.
These tools are grouped into three primary categories:
Mouse Models with Cre-lox or FLP-FRT System
Mouse Models Expressing Fluorescent Proteins or lacZ
Mouse Models with Tet Expression Systems
Research tools are also grouped by specific research areas, where applicable. Visit a database-generated mouse model list below or search the JAX® Mice Database for specific strains of interest.
