The Hot Plate test measures thermal pain reflexes due to footpad contact with a heated surface. Using a Columbus Instruments Hot Plate Analgesia Meter we can evaluate effects of genetic alterations or novel analgesic compounds on pain sensitivity in mice. Latency time to the first hindpaw response is measured and reported. This test can be customized to include measurements before and after compound administration or repeated measurements over time in progressive disease models.
