| General Note |
The Avy allele arose spontaneously in the C3H/HeJ strain. Heterozygotes (Aiy/a) are sootier than Ay/a and are often indistinguishable from A/a. They do not have the mottling often observed in Avy/a. Homozygotesare viable, as are Avy/Ay and Aiy/Avy (J:13441). Genbank ID for this mutation: S74469 | ||
| Molecular Note | This allele is the result of a 1 kb intracisternal A particle (IAP) transposon insertion. Genomic Southern hybridization analysis places the insertion just upstream of exon 2. [MGI Ref ID J:19977] | ||
This strain will not have a genotyping protocol or one is not currently available.
