Related Genotype: a/aDevelopment
In 1979 Sachs et al. reported an MHC recombination event, named MBR, that arose when they backcrossed their B10.AKM strain to C57BL/10 to minimize genetic drift. The F1 progeny of this backcross were intercrossed and 14 of the F2 offspring were tested via cytotoxicity assays for homozygosity of the AKM H2 haplotype. One of these F2 offspring was identified as a Kb Ik Sk Dq recombinant heterozygote and this haplotype was called bq1. This heterozygous female was outcrossed to a B10.S male to separate the bq1 haplotype from the b haplotype, and F1 offspring were intercrossed to generate mice on a B10 background homozygous for bq1. Repeated generations of sibling breeding resulted in the B10.MBR/Sx strain. This strain is also homozygous for Qa2a, H2-Q1a, and H2-T18a. In 1990 this strain was imported from David Sachs at Hazelton Laboratories into The Jackson Laboratory and embryos from sibling breeding were cryopreserved at N3G1F3.
