Former Names C3.SW/Lt-Chr YHeB/J (Changed: 10-JAN-07 ) C3.SW/Lt-YHeB/J (Changed: 15-DEC-04 ) Type Consomic; Additional information on Consomic Mice. Type Congenic; Additional information on Genetically Engineered Mutant Mice. Species laboratory mouse Background Strain C3.SW-H2b/Sn Donor Strain C3HeB/FeChp H2 Haplotype b Generation N9 Appearance
agouti
Related Genotype: A/ADescription
C3.SW-H2b/SnJ (Stock number 000438) males exhibit maturity onset impairment of glucose tolerance and hyperinsulinemia. Transfer of the Y chromosome from the C3HeB/FeChp background into the C3.SW-H2b/SnJ background leads to a reduction in hyperinsulinemic and hyperglycemic stress on the pancreatic islets. This strain and Stock number 002111 demonstrate that the Y chromosome modulates the level of hyperinsulinemic and glycemic stress exerted upon pancreatic beta cells.Development
Congenic C3HeB/FeChp males carrying the obesity gene, Leprdb (chromosome 4) were backcrossed to C3.SW-H2b/SnJ females to produce C3.SW-H2b/Lt mice heterozygous for Leprdb. F1 mice were intercrossed, and F2 males heterozygous for Leprdb and homozygous for H2bwere backcrossed to C3.SW-H2b/SnJ females. At the second backcross Leprdbwas eliminated. The colony has been backcrossed eight times to C3.SW-H2b/SnJ then intercrossed for 21 generations. The frozen stock is N9.
