Former Names B6.C3-Lmx1adr-6J (Changed: 02-FEB-07 ) Type Congenic; Mutant Strain; Additional information on Genetically Engineered Mutant Mice. Species laboratory mouse Generation N6 (08-JAN-04) Development
The dreher 6 Jackson mutation arose spontaneously at The Jackson Laboratory in 1992 in the strain C3H/HeJ-Pou1f1dw-J/J (stock#000510). After 9 generations of intercrossing on this background, a C3H/HeSnJ male was bred with an ovarian transplant host from a dr-6J/dr-6J donor and their offspring were intercrossed. No dwarf mice had been seen in many years of breeding indicating the dwarf Jackson mutation had been bred out. At generation +F9N1F7 a heterozygote, identified through C3H derived sequence at D1Mit425, D1Mit202, and D1Mit 15, was outcrossed to C57BL/6JEi and the new strain was maintained by backcrossing MIT marker-typed heterozygotes to C57BL/6JEi. Between 2000 and 2002, embryos were cryopreserved from C57BL/6J females bred with heterozygous males at or beyond generation N5.
