Species laboratory mouse Generation N6+ Donating Investigator Eva Eicher, The Jackson Laboratory Description
In this strain, XX mice that carry the Tg(Sry)2Ei transgene are sex-reversed males.Development
The 129-derived 14.6-kb of genomic sequence encoding Sry, described by Gubbay et al. (Nature, 1990. v346:245), was injected into the male pronuclei of fertilized eggs obtained from mating C57BL/6JEi females with C57BL/6JEi-Chr YAKR/J males. Three XY transgenic male founders were obtained and each generated a line that was maintained by backcrossing transgenic males, obligatorily carrying the consomic Chr YAKR/J, to C57BL/6JEi females (Eicher et al., 2001). All three strains were independently cryopreserved.
