Former Names C57BL/6JEi-KitlSl-18H (Changed: 08-APR-08 ) Type Congenic; Radiation Induced Mutation; Additional information on Genetically Engineered and Mutant Mice. Visit our online Nomenclature tutorial. Additional information on Congenic nomenclature. Species laboratory mouse Generation N10 Development
The steel 18 Harwell mutation, then on a mixed C3H and 101 background, was imported in 1988 from Harwell into NCI, Frederick. There, Peter Donovan maintained it by backrossing to C3H/HeN and C3H/HeJ. In 1993 this mutation was imported from NCI to the laboratory of Eva Eicher at The Jackson Laboratory and the estimated backcross generation at that time was greater than N10. The Eicher laboratory then backcrossed this mutation onto a B6 background using both C57BL/6JEi and C57BL/6J.
