| Allele Symbol | Tg(AlbLCAT)1Jdm | ||
|---|---|---|---|
| Allele Name | transgene insertion 1, John D McNeish | ||
| Allele Type | Transgenic (random, expressed) | ||
| Common Name(s) | HuLCAT; HuLCATTg; HuLCATTgl 1,; | ||
| Strain of Origin | C57BL/6 | ||
| Expressed Gene | LCAT, lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase, human | ||
| Promoter | Alb, albumin, rat | ||
| General Note | Plasma LCAT activities in transgenic mice are increased by 2.6- to 10.8-fold over the non-transgenic controls. Compared to controls, plasma from transgenic mice had a 1.4 to 1.9-fold increase in HDL-cholesterol levels. Compared to nontransgenic controls,these mice had a statistically significant increase in the plasma concentrations of cholesterol and cholesteryl ester (25% and 36%, respectively). Plasma triglycerides were significantly decreased in transgenic mice, however plasma concentrations of Apoa1 were not affected. | ||
| Molecular Note | The transgene contains the murine albumin promoter and enhancer sequences, and the entire human lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) gene with 550 bp of 3' untranslated region. [MGI Ref ID J:93245] | ||
This strain will not have a genotyping protocol or one is not currently available.
