Former Names C57BL/6J-nmf267/J (Changed: 12-JUL-06 ) NMF267 (Changed: 15-DEC-04 ) Type Chemically Induced Mutation; Coisogenic; Mutant Strain; Additional information on Genetically Engineered Mutant Mice. Species laboratory mouse Appearance
black
Related Genotype: a/aDescription
Mice homozygous for this ENU-induced mutation are smaller than normal and, by 3.5 weeks of age on average, display splayed hind limbs and a leaning gait. They fall over on their sides and have difficulty regaining a walking position. A disorganized Purkinje cell layer and loss of granule cells has been found. For additional information on Rorasg-3J view the web page on the Neuroscience Mutagenesis Facility web site.

C57BL/6J-Rorasg-3J/J
- behavior/neurological phenotype
- impaired balance (MGI Ref ID J:87349)
- mutant mice have difficulty maintaining an upright position; they lean to the side and eventually fall over
- impaired limb coordination (MGI Ref ID J:87349)
- splaying of the hind limbs becomes noticeable when mutants are between 3 and 7 weeks old
- impaired righting response (MGI Ref ID J:87349)
- mutant mice have difficulty regaining an upright position after falling over
- growth/size phenotype
- decreased body size (MGI Ref ID J:87349)
- nervous system phenotype
- abnormal cerebellar Purkinje cell layer (MGI Ref ID J:87349)
- standard pathology workup of 5 mice, aged 22-46 days, revealed a disorganized Purkinje cell layer with loss of granule cells
