Generation DefinitionsDescription
This targeted mutant was created and characterized by Deltagen, Inc. View phenotypic data developed by Deltagen.Development
The construct insert is reported to be "SA-IRES-lacZ-Neo555G/Kan." Upon arrival at The Jackson Laboratory, the donating investigator stated that these mice had been backcrossed at least 6 generations to C57BL/6 mice (see SNP note below).A 32 SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) panel analysis, with 27 markers covering all 19 chromosomes and the X chromosome, as well as 5 markers that distinguish between the C57BL/6J and C57BL/6N substrains, was performed on the rederived living colony at The Jackson Laboratory Repository. While the 27 markers throughout the genome suggested a C57BL/6 genetic background, 1 of 5 markers that determine C57BL/6J from C57BL/6N were found to be segregating. These data suggest the mice sent to The Jackson Laboratory Repository were on a mixed C57BL/6J ; C57BL/6N genetic background.

| Site of Expression | Faint lacZ expression is detected in some regions of wholemount brain. | ||
| Expressed Gene | lacZ, beta-galactosidase, E. coli | ||
| Molecular Note | A bacterial lacZ gene was inserted into the gene such that the endogenous gene promoter drives expression of beta-galactosidase. RT-PCR analysis detects a high level of gene transcript in spleen, lymph nodes and ovary, moderate levels in cerebellum, lung, liver, pancreas, kidney, thymus, bone marrow, skin, gallbladder, urinary bladder, pituitary gland, adrenal gland, salivary gland, colon, epididymis, seminal vesicle, coagulating gland, uterus and white fat, and low levels in whole brain, cortex, subcortical region, brainstem, olfactory bulb, spinal cord, eye, Harderian glands, heart, skeletal muscle, tongue, stomach, small intestine, cecum, testis and prostate gland. However, faint beta-galactosidase expression from this allele is detectable in onlyin whole mount brain. | ||
