Tg(Mt1-Tnfsf4)2Pgn/?
C57BL/6J-Tg(Mt1-Tnfsf4)2Pgn
- cardiovascular system phenotype
- increased susceptibility to atherosclerosis (MGI Ref ID J:97460)
- sizes of atherosclerotic lesions at the aortic roots of transgenic female mice were ~2.3-fold greater than those of their nontransgenic littermates after 16 weeks on an atherogenic diet begun at age 10 weeks
- homeostasis/metabolism phenotype
- *normal* homeostasis/metabolism phenotype (MGI Ref ID J:97460)
- plasma levels of triglycerides, total cholesterol, VLDL cholesterol and HDL cholesterol were similar for transgenic females and their non-transgenic littermates both before and after 16 weeks on a high fat diet begun at age 10 weeks

| Allele Type | Transgenic (random, expressed) | ||
| Strain of Origin | C57BL/6J | ||
| Expressed Gene | Tnfsf4, tumor necrosis factor (ligand) superfamily, member 4, mouse, laboratory | ||
| Promoter | Mt1, metallothionein 1, mouse, laboratory | ||
| General Note | This is line 2 of four transgenic lines. According to the authors, although the line 2 was the primary one described in the reference, all four share the same phenotype. | ||
| Molecular Note | The Tnfsf4 cDNA, amplified from mRNA isolated from spleens of C57BL/6J mice, was placed under control of the ubiquitously expressed metallothionein promoter followed by the hemoglobin beta IVS intron. The 3' end of the cDNA, without its polyadenylation signal, was joined to a fragment of the human growth hormone gene, which distinguishes transgene-derived from endogenous transcripts. Transgenic mice express 4- to 250-fold higher levels, depending on tissue type, of transgenic mRNA than do nontransgenic littermates in liver, aorta, heart and spleen. [MGI Ref ID J:97460] | ||
