Type JAX® GEMM® Strain - Mutant Stock Additional information on JAX® GEMM® Strains. Type JAX® GEMM® Strain - Targeted Mutation Mating System Homozygote x Homozygote (Female x Male) Species laboratory mouse Donating Investigator Peter Mombaerts, Max Planck Institute of Biophysics Generation ?+F1 (15-MAY-07) Strain Description
Olfactory sensory neurons that express the olfactory receptor Olfr151 also co-express the Cre recombinase by virtue of IRES-mediated co-translation.Strain Development
Homologous recombination to generate this allele was done in 129P2/OlaHsd derived E14 ES cells. The FRT-flanked neo cassette was removed from the resulting mutant mice by crossing the line to mice carrying Tg(ACTB-FLP). This transgene was then bred out of the line and through intercrossing it was made homozygous for Olfr151tm28Mom.

| Cre recombinase is an enzyme derived from the bacteriophage P1 that specifically recognizes loxP sites. Cre has been shown to effectively mediate the excision of DNA located between loxP sites. After the excision event, the DNA ends recombine leaving a single loxP site in place of the intervening sequence. | |||

| Molecular Note | An IRES-cre-FNF cassette was inserted downstream of the coding sequence of Olfr151 to permit bicistronic expression of Olfr151 and cre recombinase. The neo cassette was excised by crossing to mice bearing Tg(ACTB-FLP). [MGI Ref ID J:115857] | ||

| Standard Supply | Repository-Live. A collection of over 1000 strains maintained as live colonies. Individual colonies are sized to meet current customer demand. Delivery for orders of 10 mice or less ranges on average from one to eight weeks; mice are generally shipped between four to six weeks of age with a maximum shipping age of ~nine weeks. Colony sizes do not generally support stringent age specifications for large volumes of mice; however custom orders and larger quantities of mice are easily arranged. Estimated ship dates for all orders provided within 48 hours of order placement. |
