Type Mutant Stock; Targeted Mutation; Additional information on Genetically Engineered Mutant Mice. Species laboratory mouse Donating Investigator Peter Mombaerts, Max Planck Institute of Biophysics Development
The Olfr151tm29Mom mutation was generated in 129P2/OlaHsd derived E14 ES cells and resulting mice were bred to C57BL/6J before being intercrossed to homozygosity. This mutation was generated using the ACN neo cassette, which self-excises during transmission in the male chimera. In 2007 sperm was cryopreserved from homozygous males on this mixed B6;129P2 background.

Olfr151tm29Mom/Olfr151tm29Mom
involves: 129P2/OlaHsd * C57BL/6J
- nervous system phenotype
- abnormal olfactory neuron morphology (MGI Ref ID J:115911)
- fewer cells expressing the mutant allele are present compared to control mice expressing Olfr151 promotor driven LacZ transgene
- abnormal sensory neuron projections (MGI Ref ID J:115911)
- olfactory sensory neuron axons form ectopic, ventral glomeruli in the olfactory bulb in addition to glomeruli in the expected position
- two pairs of glomeruli are present in 44% of bulbs
- presence of extra glomeruli correlates to presence of 12-fold fewer cells in dorsal regions and 4- to 10-fold more cells in theventral region of the epithelium of endoturbinates II and III

| Molecular Note | Five nucleotide substitutions were made in the promoter, altering both the homeodomain and the O/E-like binding site, and an IRES-taulacZ-ACNf cassette was inserted immediately following the endogenous stop codon. The ACNf cassette self-excised in the male germline leaving no neo sequence. [MGI Ref ID J:115911] | ||
