Generation DefinitionsDonating Investigator T1DR Colony, The Jackson Laboratory Appearance
albino, pink-eyed
Related Genotype: A/? Tyrc/TyrcDescription
In an attempt to offer alleles on well-characterized or multiple genetic backgrounds, alleles are frequently moved to a genetic background different from that on which an allele was first characterized. It should be noted that the phenotype could vary from that originally described on a NOD/ShiLt genetic background. We will modify the strain description if necessary as published results become available.
Chromosome 11 congenic mice are viable, fertile, normal in size, and do not display any gross physical or behavioral abnormalities. The reported conclusion of diabetes resistance in this Chr 11 congenic has been re-evaluated now that the B6 contaminating genome on Chr 1 has been eliminated. Diabetes incidence studies preformed at The Jackson Laboratory show an accelerated onset and incidence of diabetes in females when compared with NOD/ShiLtJ controls and the original stock 005311, while the diabetes onset and incidence in males is accelerated compared to the original Stock 005311 and is slightly reduced compared to NOD/ShiLtJ controls. 006809 incidence study and fine mapping data. This strain may be useful for identifying genes involved with diabetes located within the Idd4 region of Chr 11.
Development
Idd4 subloci map to Chr 11. Due to a genetic contamination identified in the Idd5 region of Chr 1, Stock No. 005311 was further backcrossed to Stock No. 001976 - NOD/ShiLtJ for 2 generations. Genetic Quality Control indicates all previously C57BL/6 identified Chr 1 markers and all other known Idd's are of NOD origin; while Chr 11 markers D11Nds1 (43.8 cM) through D11Mit41 (49 cM) are of C57BL/6 origin. This Idd4 congenic strain containing a 5.2cM region located between D11Nds1 and D11Mit41 of Chr 11 is known to contain Nos2 (45.6cM) Mpmv4 (48cM), Xmv42 (53cM), Mpo, (49cM) and the beta-chemokine gene family, including, Ccl1 (Tcr3, 47cM), Ccl2(Mcp1, 46.5cM), Ccl3 (Mip1a, 47.59cM), Ccl4 (Mip1b, 47.6cM) (Gill et al, 1995 and Grattan et al, 2002). In 2008 this congenic strain is at generation N3+N2F2.

Supply Notes
- Cryorecovery - Standard.
We will fulfill your order by providing at least two pair of mice, at least one animal of each pair carrying the mutation of interest. The total number of animals provided, their gender and genotype will vary. Please inquire if larger numbers of animals with specific genotype and genders are needed. Animals typically ship between 13 and 16 weeks from the date of your order. If a second cryorecovery is needed in order to provide the minimum number of animals, animals will ship within 25 weeks. IMPORTANT NOTE: The genotypes of animals provided may not reflect the mating scheme utilized by The Jackson Laboratory prior to cryopreservation, or that discussed in the strain description. Please inquire about possible genotypes which will be recovered for this specific strain. The Jackson Laboratory cannot guarantee the reproductive success of mice shipped to your facility. If the mice are lost after the first three days (post-arrival) or do not produce progeny at your facility, a new order and fee will be necessary.Cryorecovery to establish a Dedicated Supply for greater quantities of mice.
Mice recovered can be used to establish a dedicated colony to contractually supply you mice according to your requirements. Price by quotation. For more information on Dedicated Supply, please contact JAX® Services, Tel: 1-800-422-6423 (from U.S.A., Canada or Puerto Rico only) or 1-207-288-5845 (from any location).
