| The single coding exon of the glucosaminyl (N-acetyl) transferase 3, mucin type (Gcnt3) gene is flanked by loxP sites in these mice. When bred to cre transgenic strains, the exon is excised to produce a null allele. | |||||||||
Former Names B6.129-Gcnt2tm1Jxm/J (Changed: 25-OCT-07 ) Type Congenic; Targeted Mutation; Additional information on Genetically Engineered Mutant Mice. Mating System Homozygote x Homozygote (Female x Male) Species laboratory mouse Generation [?pN7]+F1 (06-MAY-08) Donating Investigator Jamey Marth, University of California at San Diego Description
Mice that are homozygous for the floxed targeted mutation are viable, normal in size, and do not display any gross physical or behavioral abnormalities. When bred to cre transgenic strains, the loxP-flanked exons are deleted by cre expression to produce a null allele.Development
A targeting vector was used to place a floxed neomycin-thymidine kinase expression cassette downstream of the single coding exon, and a loxP site upstream. The construct was electroporated into (129X1/SvJ x 129S1/Sv)F1-Kitl+-derived R1 embryonic stem (ES) cells. Transient cre expression in targeted cells excised the neo cassette and left the floxed exon. The line has been backcrossed to C57BL/6 at least 7 times by the donating laboratory.

| Standard Supply | Repository-Live. A collection of over 1000 strains maintained as live colonies. Individual colonies are sized to meet current customer demand. Delivery for orders of 10 mice or less ranges on average from one to eight weeks; mice are generally shipped between four to six weeks of age with a maximum shipping age of ~nine weeks. Colony sizes do not generally support stringent age specifications for large volumes of mice; however custom orders and larger quantities of mice are easily arranged. Estimated ship dates for all orders provided within 48 hours of order placement. |
