Type JAX® GEMM® Strain - Mutant Stock Additional information on JAX® GEMM® Strains. Type JAX® GEMM® Strain - Transgenic Species laboratory mouse Donating Investigator Thomas Sudhof, U. of Texas, SW Medical Center at Dallas Strain Description
Mice homozygous for this transgene are viable and fertile and do not display any gross physical or behavioral abnormalities. The mice express a syntaxin 1A (brain)-enhanced yellow fluorescent protein fusion protein under the control of a Thy1 promoter. Fluorescence patterns have not been characterized.Strain Development
A transgenic vector was designed to create a mouse syntaxin 1A (brain)/enhanced yellow fluorescent protein (EYFP) fusion protein under the control of a mouse thymus cell antigen 1, theta (Thy1) promoter. The vector was introduced to B6SJLF1 fertilized oocytes. Founders were maintained on this mixed background through crosses to B6SJLF1 hybrid mice and intercrossing.

| Yellow Fluorescent Protein (YFP) is a derivative of Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP), a versatile reporter molecule which has found use in many biological applications. The original molecule has been modified in order to enhance fluorescence intensity and shift the wavelength emitted when excited. When YFP is utilized in a transgenic construct, tissue expressing sufficient amounts of YFP will fluoresce yellowish-green when exposed to a 513 nm light source. | |||
| Promoter | Thy1, thymus cell antigen 1, theta, mouse, laboratory | ||
| Molecular Note | A transgenic vector was designed to create a mouse syntaxin 1A (brain)/enhanced yellow fluorescent protein (EYFP) fusion protein under the control of a mouse thymus cell antigen 1, theta (Thy1) promoter. [MGI Ref ID J:132968] | ||

Please note: Estimated available for sale dates are provided to keep customers better informed on strains under development. Please note that our Colony Managers routinely monitor the target date and edit it based on breeding performance and other factors. The length of time it takes to make a new strain available for sale depends on genotype, age, number of animals sent by the Donating Investigator, breeding performance, additional strain development (backcrossing, making homozygous), and anticipated demand for the strain/interest registered.
