These mice possess loxP sites on either side of exon 2 of the targeted gene. Mice that are homozygous for this allele are viable, normal in size and do not display any gross physical or behavioral abnormalities, but breed very poorly. Protein levels are normal.When bred to a strain expressing Cre recombinase, this mutant mouse strain may be useful in studies of presynaptic proteins and synaptic vesicles.
Development
A vector including an FRT-flanked neomycin cassette was designed to flank exon 2 of the gene with loxP sites. The construct was electroporated into (129X1/SvJ x 129S1/Sv)F1-Kitl+-derived R1 embryonic stem (ES) cells. Chimeric animals derived from the targeted ES cells were crossed with an FLP stain of mice to remove the neomycin cassette. This strain was backcrossed to C57BL/6 for approximately five generations by the donating laboratory.

The total number of animals provided, their gender and genotype will vary. Please inquire if larger numbers of animals with specific genotype and genders are needed. Animals typically ship between 13 and 16 weeks from the date of your order. If a second cryorecovery is needed in order to provide the minimum number of animals, animals will ship within 25 weeks.
