Generation DefinitionsDonating Investigator Lou de Leij, University Hospital Groningen Description
These transgenic mice express the human tumor-associated calcium signal transducer 1 gene.Transgene expression pattern is similar to the observed human pattern in both normal and tumor tissue.
Founder line 02 (BACF2) carries approximately 3 copies of the transgene.
Mice that are hemizygous for the targeted mutation are viable, normal in size and do not display any gross physical or behavioral abnormalities. This mutant mouse strain may be useful in studies of immunological therapies for cancer.
Development
A transgenic construct containing the human tumor-associated calcium signal transducer 1 gene (TACSTD1), isolated from a BAC clone, was injected into fertilized FVB/NHsd mouse eggs. Founder line 02 (BACF2) was subsequently established. The mice were backcrossed to C57BL/6 (Harlan) for eight generations.

| Molecular Note | A transgenic construct containing the human tumor-associated calcium signal transducer 1 gene (TACSTD1), isolated from a BAC clone, was injected into fertilized FVB/NHsd mouse eggs. Founder line 02 (BACF2) was subsequently established. Transgene expression is directed to the membrane of epithelial cells and is detected in various epithelia in kidney, airways, bile ducts, GI tract (epithelium of villi and crypts of small and large intestine) and in glandular epithelium of reproductive system (epithelium of endometrium, testis tubuli seminifer and epithelium of fallopian ducts), as well as in Hassall's corpuscles in the thymus. Pattern is similar to human expression patterns in normal and tumor tissues. [MGI Ref ID J:69638] | ||
