Related Genotype: a/aDescription
This inbred strain is a substrain of C57BL/6. C57BL/6HaJ may serve as a general purpose strain, in addition, it is known for resistance to induced colon cancer. In contrast to 100% susceptible ICR/HaJ (009122) mice, no tumors develop in C57BL/6HaJ mice following subcutaneous injection of 1,2-dimethylhydrazine (DMH) during a 44 week observation period. Other substrains, C57BL/6J (000664 ) and C57BL/6N, exhibit a lesser degree of resistance, 43% and 85% respectively. This strain may be useful in genetic analysis of carcinogen-induced colon cancer.Development
This substrain of the inbred strain C57BL originated in the laboratory of Dr. Hauschka at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. C57BL/6Ha has been maintained by sibling matings at Roswell Park for more than 30 years. Dr. Rosemary Elliott donated this strain to the Repository in 2009.

| Standard Supply | Repository-Live. A collection of over 1000 strains maintained as live colonies. Individual colonies are sized to meet current customer demand. Delivery for orders of 10 mice or less ranges on average from one to eight weeks; mice are generally shipped between four to six weeks of age with a maximum shipping age of approximately nine weeks. Colony sizes do not generally support stringent age specifications for large volumes of mice; however custom orders and larger quantities of mice are easily arranged. Estimated ship dates for all orders provided within two business days following order placement. |
