Generation DefinitionsDescription
The Tg(RP24-180N9)2Kjn transgene gives expression of Fscn2 and rescues the Fscn2ahl8 related early onset hearing loss on the DBA/2J background. At one month of age the 16 kHz ABR threshold of the hemizygote is close to that of DBA/2NCrl controls, a subline that does not have Fscn2ahl8. This transgenic rescue is similar to that found in the congenic rescue in D2.B6-Fscn2+/Kjn (stock #012438).Development
The C57BL/6J-derived BAC RP24-180N9 was microinjected into the pronuclei of DBA/2J embryos. This transgene was backcrossed twice to DBA/2J then intercrossed to homozygosity.

| Molecular Note | BAC clone RP24-180N9, derived from C57BL/6J and including the full Fscn2 gene and regulatory sequence, was microinjected into pronuclei of DBA/2J embryos and randomly integrated. This insertion gives detectable expression of Fscn2. [MGI Ref ID J:162868] | ||
